Choral Scholarships

University Students

Alto, tenor and bass scholarships are available for university undergraduate and post-graduate students to sing in Leicester Cathedral choir.

The scholarships are tenable on an annual basis for 3 years from September.

The Dr. George Gray Memoral Trust

Dr George Gray, Master of the Music from 1930 to 1969, died in 1981 aged 83. His many friends in diverse fields, including the Cathedral, Diocese, the University, various choirs and musical associations, Rotary and at Grace Road (Cricket), wished to join with former pupils and choristers to establish a memorial to him.

In 1982 The Dr George Gray Memorial Trust was founded by the Old Choristers' Association to help to maintain the high choral standard and tradition of the Cathedral Choir. The trust currently provides scholarships, each worth £370 per annum, to nine choristers. The aim is to provide such scholarships for each of the choristers.

The Trustees of the fund appeal for your support to enable them to increase the number of scholarships they are able to provide. Large donations or bequests can have a scholarship named after the benefactor.
