Friday was a very busy day - a visit to the British
Embassy where we were entertained by the ambassador who spoilt us
with tea, cakes and biscuits (no small round chocolates though. He
had to rush off to the Motor Show so left his dog to look after us.

After the Embassy we headed for the Japanese Parliament Building
called the Diet (I always thought the Japanese diet was rice and
fish). Our hosts for the day had arranged a tour of the upper
chamber (the equivalent of the House of Lords). There were lots and
lots of stairs and over 4.5 kilometres of reddish (as the guide
described it) carpet.

After a drive round the outside of the Imperial Palace - all we
could see was the walls, we headed for Tokyo Seaside for lunch,
which turned out to be a park by the docks!

|
After lunch we headed for Yokohama for a rather late Evensong at St.
Andrew's Cathedral Church. Again the church was overflowing.
Afterwards we had a marvellous meal in the church hall - it is
impossible to overstate how friendly and hospitable everyone was.

Our journey back from Yokohama to Tokyo presented the opportunity
for a photo of the night-time traffic.
