Day 7 - Wednesday 19th October

On Wednesday we split into groups for sightseeing in
Kyoto. I have asked people in other groups to give me
paragraphs on what they did, so more to follow later. |
| The group I was in then caught a bus into the centre of Kyoto for lunch in a Sushi bar complete with a conveyor belt bringing the dishes to the table - you just picked off what you wanted. |

All dishes were the same price so at the end of the meal they just count the dishes. Each dish was about 50p! After lunch a walk to a tea house for traditional Japanese green tea, rather like pea soup in appearance and served in a bowl. We also tried other tea-based delights such as green tea cheesecake, which was not as strange as you might imagine. |
| We then did a bit of sightseeing around the Gion district, which was the Geisha area (apparently)! |
