Day 4 - Sunday 16th October |

Eucharist and two concerts.

The service was an experience - mostly in Japanese
with the sermon repeated in English for our benefit.
Lunch in the
kindergarten behind the church - curry rice and fruit with interesting
discussions with Japanese hosts including a man of 107! The boys and some of
the younger songmen enjoyed football before the concerts.
There were too many to fit into the
church in one go, hence the two performances. The second was enlivened by a
live link-up with BBC Radio Leicester.
Then to the Youth Centre for dinner and a
visit to the centre's planetarium. We were entertained by their resident
astronomer who told us about the moon. They found the suggestion that it was
made of cheese hilarious, he then went on to tell us about the rabbit that
lives there and why Russian women hate the full moon. A demonstration of
the 60cm telescope followed, but as it was raining we couldn't try it out.
Then the highlight - the planetarium itself. Several of the older members
of the group fell asleep during the story behind Andromeda - few of us
will ever forget the huge whale that ate her (mmmm tasty).
